Regional Conference on ‘Replication of Good Governance Practices in J&K, Ladakh’

Centre is holding a two-day regional conference on theme- ‘Replication of Good Governance Practices in Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh’ from 15-16 November 2019 in Jammu. It was inaugurated by Minister of State for Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Dr. Jitendra Singh.

Key Highlights of Conference

It is the first such conference being held in newly carved Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Delegates from 19 states and 4 UTs are participating in the Conference. At the conference the states of Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya and J&K will be sharing their experiences of grievance redressal.

The conference is being organised by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in collaboration with government of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. As of now DARPG has organized 31 Regional Conferences.

Conference Objective: To bring national and state level organizations on the same platform to share best practises. These include areas such as Digital Governance, Capacity Building, Aspirational Districts, Citizen Centric Governance and Personnel Administration.

The pre-inaugural session was held on the topic ‘Public Policy and Governance’, which was chaired by J&K’s Financial Commissioner Arun Kumar Mehta.

The ‘Sushasan Sankalp: Jammu Ghoshana’ resolution will be adopted in the final session of conference.

Significance: The conference is an effort to create a common platform to share experiences in formulation and implementation of best practices in citizen-centric governance, improved public service delivery by e-governance, accountable, transparent and citizen-friendly effective administration.
