Radiopharmaceuticals

Radiopharmaceuticals or nuclear medicines are unique medical formulations that contain radioisotopes and are used for therapy or diagnosis. These medicines are most commonly used in cancer treatment especially in case of brain and thyroid cancers. They are administered orally as pills, intravenously as injections or interstitially i.e. into a body cavity. They are referred to as tracers when used for diagnostic purposes. The Department of Atomic Energy recently announced plans to include private agencies for nuclear medicine.
