Mekong River

Mekong River is a trans-boundary river flowing in China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is the world’s 12th longest river, with an estimated length of around 4,000 km. The Mekong River Commission recently announced that the outflow restrictions caused by Chinese hydropower dams and low rainfall caused the decline of water levels in the river. This is impacting fish migrations, agriculture, transportation and livelihoods and food security of around 70 million people.
