Maharaja Suheldev

Maharaja Suheldev is a famous King of Shravasti (in north-eastern Uttar Pradesh) known for killing the Ghaznavi general Ghazi Saiyyad Salar Masud in Bahraich in the early 11th century. The king was mentioned in ‘Mirat-i-Masudi’ – the biography of the Mughal emperor Jahangir written by Abd-ur-Rahman Chishti. Foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the erection of the 4.20 m high statue of Suheldev in Bahraich.
