Madras High Court directs Centre to Ban Tik-Tok

The Madurai division bench comprising justice N Kirubakaran and justice SS Sundar of the Madras High Court has directed the Government to ban the download of ‘Tik Tok’, which is a Chinese video share mobile application. This step has been take on grounds that it serves as a platform for the distribution of explicit and inappropriate content likely to harm children. The interim order is also given to not telecast the videos made using the Tik Tok mobile app. The bench also directed Centre a legislation similar to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, as in the US, can be brought in India.
