Lonar Lake

Lonar Lake is located in Buldhana district of Maharashtra. The lake came into existence because of a meteorite collision impact during the Pleistcene Epoch. It was declared a notified national geo-heritage monument in 1979 and chosen as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Conservation Treaty in 2020. Recently, Maharashtra CM visited this site and directed officials to develop tourism facilities around the lake without disturbing the local biodiversity.
