Ladakh dPal rNgam Duston Award conferred to Dalai Lama

Highest civilian honour of Ladakh “dPal rNgam Duston” was recently conferred to Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. He was honoured for his contribution towards humanity.

dPal rNgam Duston Award:

  • It was the 6th dPal rNgam Duston Award.
  • Award was conferred to Dalai Lama by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh.
  • dPal rNgam Duston was celebrated to mark the foundation day of LAHDC at Sindhu Ghat.
  • Dalai Lama is currently on a visit to Ladakh, since July 15, 2022. On the occasion, he stressed upon maintaining communal harmony in this region.

Ladakh and Tibet are connected through the Indus River. Both have several religious and cultural similarities. The spiritual leader noted that, changing climatic condition a big cause of concern and asked everyone to be environmentally conscious in their action.

The 14th Dalai Lama:

Tenzin Gyatso is the current and 14th Dalai Lama, who is also known as Gyalwa Rinpoche to the Tibetan people. He is the highest spiritual leader and former head of Tibet. He is considered as a living Bodhisattva. He was also conferred upon with the ‘chief Patron of the Maha Bodhi Society of India’ in 2008. In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He was named as one of the “Children of Mahatma Gandhi”, in Time Magazine.
