KVIC knowledge Portal for Khadi was inaugurated on July 14, 2022 by CEO of KVIC, Preeta Verma.

This portal has been developed by Centre of Excellence for Khadi, in a bid to provide design directions to Khadi institutions.
KVIC under Ministry of MSME, has set up the Centre of Excellence for Khadi at NIFT. This centre will extend support to Khadi Institutions.
Knowledge Port for Khadi seeks to spread knowledge related to design among broader section of Khadi Institutions.
It seeks to create design intervention by simplifying trends, which are suitable for Khadi.

Volume I of the Portal

Volume I of the portal has conceptualised and presented four stories or design directions. Each story comprises of a key theme, colour palette, and directions for woven designs, texture, prints, and surfaces. Each story has been divided into two segments, namely Home and Apparel. Apart from themes, Knowledge portal also provides size charts, buttons & closures, silhouette boards, seams and finishes for both the segments.

Information updates

The information will be updated on the knowledge portal for two times in year. It will be updated to provide directions in accordance with seasons and trends. Information will be valuable for not only Khadi institutions but also for those organisations providing support for the development of apparel, packaging for khadi and home products.

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)

KVIC is a statutory body, established in April 1957, in accordance with “Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act, 1956”. It is an apex organisation, working under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). KVIC seeks to plan, promote, organise, facilitate, and assist in establishing and developing khadi and village industries across rural areas in association with other agencies.
