‘Kashi Utsav’ being held in Varanasi

Kashi Utsav is being organised in Varanasi from November 16 to November 18, 2021 to celebrate classic heritage & culture of Kashi.

Key Points

  • It is being organised by “Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre” of Varanasi.
  • The utsav will also celebrate the centuries-old luminaries like Goswami Tulsidas, Sant Raidas, Sant Kabir, Munshi Premchand, Bhartendu Harishchandra, and Shri Jaishankar Prasad.
  • Event is being organised with the support of Uttar Pradesh State Government and Varanasi Administration as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Theme of the event

A unique theme has been dedicated to each day of the festival. The themes are:

  1. Kashi ke Hastakshar;
  2. Kabir, Raidas ki Bani aur Nirgun Kashi and
  3. Kavita aur Kahani – Kashi ki Zubani.

About the event

  • First day of the event will focus on eminent literary figures namely Shri Jaishankar Prasad and Bhartendu Harishchandra.
  • Second day of the event will focus on prominent poets like Sant Raidas and Sant Kabirdas.
  • While the final day will focus on Goswami Tulsidas and Munshi Premchand.
  • Event will emphasize these personalities from Kashi by means of panel discussions, film screenings, exhibitions, music, dance performance and drama.

Khoob Ladi Mardani Play

This play is based on Rani Laxmi Bai. It will be presented by artists from National School of Drama (NSD). The play has been directed by Ms Bharti Sharma from NSD.

Kamayani: Dance Drama

This dance drama is based on classic poetry of Shri Jaishankar Prasad. It has been directed by Shri Vyomesh Shukla from Varanasi. It will be performed on November 16.
