Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Bill withdrawn

The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act passed in 2004 was now been withdrawn by the Government on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.

The special provisions under Article 370 were repealed on August 5, 2019, and Jammu and Kashmir were declared a Union Territory, which now applicable the central laws for reservation quota to economically backward class in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

On 31st October 2019, Jammu and Kashmir became a Union Territory, and the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir and the criminal code of Jammu and Kashmir, the Ranbir penal code or RPC were ceased to exist.

Girish Chandra Murmu was appointed as the first Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
