IRCTC to compensate Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express passengers for delay

In a first of its kind offer from any national carrier, the IRCTC will compensate passengers of new Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express in case of delay in train schedule. The train is schedules to be flagged off on 4 October 2019.

Key Highlights

An amount of Rs.100 will be paid in case the delay is for more than an hour and Rs.250 for delay of more than 2 hours.

This compensation is in addition to the Rs.25-lakh free insurance that will be given to passengers of the train.

Many countries over the globe compensate passengers for delays although some do so as monetary compensation and some in kind.

About Tejas Express

It is first semi-high speed fully air-conditioned train of India, introduced by Indian Railways. Its inaugural run was in 2017 from Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Karmali in Goa.

In March 2019, second Tejas Express of India was flagged off between Chennai Egmore and Madurai Junction by PM Narendra Modi. The new Tejas Express will run on New Delhi-Lucknow route for 6 days a week.
