About the Day
The International Delegates Day is an initiative of the United Nations to raise awareness about the ‘role of the representatives and delegates of the Member States to the United Nations’. It is observed on April 25th to commemorate the San Francisco Conference and 2020 marks the 75th anniversary.
San Francisco Conference
The San Francisco Conference or United Nations Conference on International Organization (UNCIO) was a convention held between April and June of 1945 in San Francisco, USA. The United Nations Charter was the result of this convention attended by delegates from 50 allied nations.
UN Charter
The Charter of United Nations is the foundational document of the United Nations Organisation. The charters holds that the obligation of the members to the UN prevails over all other treaty obligation. Most of the countries have ratified the treaty.
