UNWRA is the acronym for United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. It is a United Nations agency that was established in 1949 to provide relief to all refugees of the 1948 Palestine conflict. It also helps in supporting the human development of Palestinian refugees. The mandate of this organization surrounds the displaced Palestinians due to the Palestine War in 1948 and other subsequent conflicts. With the UNWRA over 5.6 million Palestinians have registered as refugees. It looks to help all the Palestine refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, East Jerusalem, Syria, and the Gaza Strip.
