Exercise ‘Hand-in-Hand’ to commence in Meghalaya

The joint military exercise of India and China called ‘Hand-in-Hand’ is to commence on December 7th. The 2019 exercise will mark the 8th edition of the collaboration. The exercise is to be conducted in Umroi in Meghalaya. It is a 14 days event with the exercises being conducted at company level. From the Chinese side, 139 member contingent of People’s Liberation Army/ PLA will be participating and from the Indian side, the Indian Army will be participating. The Chinese side is led by Major General Li Shizhong and Senior Colonel Wang Weijin of the Tibet Military Command. The tactical exercises will include training for counter terrorism scenarios in semi-urban areas and HADR (Humanitarian and Disaster Relief) operations. The event will include lectures and drills on handling on weapons and fire arms, special helicopter-borne operations, battle obstacle courses and case studies of operations done in the counter terrorism field.
