EAGLE Act

The EAGLE (Ensuring American Global Leadership and Engagement) Act was introduced in the Congress to respond to policy challenges faced by the United States from China. The legislation covers various China-centric issues in the economic and international fronts that are detrimental to the American interests.

Some of the focus areas of the EAGLE Act include increasing American investment in manufacturing and trade, re-engagement with international organisations and increasing the US’ support to Hong Kong’s pro-democracy activists and Taiwan. The legislation would mobilise resources to achieve American interests in the Indo-Pacific. It will also create strategic and economic advantages through climate action, vaccine diplomacy, development finance and digital and cybersecurity partnership.
