“Dekho Apna Desh”: A Webinar launched by Tourism Ministry

On April 14, 2020, the Ministry of Tourism launched “Dekho Apna Desh”. It is a webinar that caters in-depth information about tourist destinations in the country. It also provides details about culture and heritage of India.

Highlights

The first webinar series is to explain long history of Delhi. It has been titled as “City of cities-Delhi’s Personal Diary”. The first session was a huge success with more than 5,546 people attending it.

The second series

The second webinar series is to start on April 16, 2020. The second series has been named “Calcutta-A Confluences of Culture”. The series is to discuss how the melting pot of diversity is to be kept alive.

Tourism

The tourism sector is greatly affected by COVID-19. The tourism sector currently accounts to 10% of global GDP. With the world affected by severe lock down, the tourism sector has cut down 50 million jobs. It might take 10 months for the tourism sector to recover.
