Defence ministry’s campaign against plastic

The Ministry of Defence has launched a massive campaign in line with the Swachh Bharat Mission in December. All three armed forces along with other defence agencies are to participate in the events. The theme for the campaign is, ‘Plastic Se Raksha, Swachhata He Suraksha’. The Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Duard, National Cadet Corps, Cantonment boards, Defence Public Sector Units, Ordnance Factory Board, Border Road Organisation, etc. are to participate in the events. The ministry is also conducting plogging events which combine jogging with cleaning of garbage.

The Army is to clean up 17 locations like Siachen, Jaisalmer, Bhuj and Bairengte in Mizoram. The Indian Navy will be working in coastal regions like Mumbai, Vishakapatnam, Kolkatta, etc. The Air Force will clean up places like Thiruvananthapuram, Upper Shillong, Hindon and Nagpur. Other agencies like the NCC, Coast Guard, etc. will also be involved at various locations.
