Chinese BRI invite declined by India

India for the second time declined the Chinese invite to attend the second BRI forum that is scheduled to take place later this month. India boycotted the first BRI forum in 2017. It stated that the Chinese BRI is undermining India’s sovereignty in the form of CPEC ”China Pakistan Economic corridor as it passes through the Pakistan occupied Gilgit ”Balistan region.

Another major rift between the countries is China refusing to back the UN resolution to ban Pakistan based terror group Jaish ”e ”Mohammed. The terror group had claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack in J&K that killed 40 CRPF. This is the fourth time China blocked the ban on Azhar, the leader of the organisation.

India is planning to promote its own policies of increasing its trade in the East Asia under its Act East Policy rather than joining the BRI. India has repeatedly warned against the irresponsible debt practices connecting the initiative.
