Carbonaceous chondrite

Carbonaceous chondrite is a type of primitive meteorite that is rich in organic compound and hence holds interest in the search for extraterrestrial life form. It belongs to the category of primitive meteorites and is the most pristine type of meteorite. Chondritic meteorites are non-metallic and rocky in nature. Carbonaceous chondrites are one of the rarest types of meteorites that fall to the earth. The Winchcombe meteorite, discovered in the UK, belongs to this category of meteorite.
