Business Incubation Centers in Tamilnadu & Haryana for food processing

August 28, 2009: Government of India is going to set up two business incubation centres in Tamil Nadu and Haryana to promote the processed food industry among rural entrepreneurs.

Where these centers will be set up?

  1. Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT) in Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu
  2. Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) in Kundli at Haryana.

The Incubation center at Thanjavur has been recently launched and it will provide monetary as well as technical assistance to entrepreneurs planning to start a processed food unit, The IICPT incubation centre was announced in Food Processing Ministry’s 100-day target.

About NIFTEM, Kundali: The set up of NIFTEM was announced in 2007 by Government of India. The Institute functions as a knowledge centre in food processing field with emphasis on inter-disciplinary research, developing new products and processes and incubating innovative ideas apart from providing a forum for intense interaction with industry, Government, consumers and experts on the emerging contours of the food processing industry.

About IICPT Thanjavur: IICPT is a R & D Institute under the aegis of Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MFPI), Govt. of India. The Institute is located at Thanjavur, the ancient capital of Chola Kingdom and the granary of Tamil Nadu.
