Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2022 is being held from July 16, 2022 to August 14, 2022 in New Delhi.

Highlights

Year 2022 is making the 22^nd edition of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav.
It is being held as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, under name “22^nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2022 (Azadi Segment).
Event was inaugurated by Arjun Ram Meghwal, Malini Awasthi, and Arvind Kumar.

Who is organising the event?

22^nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav is being held by National School of Drama (NSD) New Delhi.

Aim of the event

22^nd edition of the event aims to showcase incidents and raise awareness about unsung heroes of India’s freedom struggle who have not made to India’s history. For instance, in 1913, tribal people were brutally tortured and killed in Maangarh. But this incident is hardly known to people. Thus, theatre artists can prepare plays based on these incidents.

About Bharat Rang Mahotsav

National School of Drama started the Bharat Rang Mahotsav two decade ago, in a bid to revive the growth and development of theatre across India. It is a national festival, that is held annually to showcase the work of most creative theatre workers in country.

National School of Drama (NSD)

NSD is a theatre training institute, based in New Delhi. It was established in 1959 as an autonomous organization under Ministry of Culture. Sangeet Natak Akademi had set up the school. In 1975, NSD became an independent school. It was given the status of deemed university in 2005. However, this status was revoked in 2011. Currently, Paresh Rawal is the Chairperson of NSD.
