Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022

The biggest drone festival is being celebrated in India named the Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022 on 27^th May 2022. The festival is being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and it will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister will also be interacting with Kisan drone pilots and with start-ups in the drone exhibition centre and will be witnessing the open-air drone demonstrations.

What are drones?

Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), i.e. an aircraft without any human pilot, passenger or crew on board. These UAVs are making the lives of security, farmers, and defence personnel easier.

What is Bharat Drone Mahotsav?

Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022 is India’s biggest-ever drone festival. It is a two-day event that is being held on 27^th and 28^th May 2022. In this event, more than 1,600 delegates comprising foreign diplomats, government officials, central armed police forces, armed forces, private companies, PSUs, drone start-ups etc. will be participating.

What events will be held at this Mahotsav?

At this exhibition, over 70 exhibitors will be displaying various use of drones. Also, during this Mahotsav, the events will include:

product launches
drone pilot certificates will be awarded virtually
flying demonstrations
panel discussions
Display of a Made-in-India Drone Taxi prototype, etc.

What are Kisan Drones?

Nowadays, drones are not only for the defence sectors but are being used in various other sectors. In recent times, various drones are being used in the agricultural sector for the dispersion of pesticides and fertilizers, transportation of crops, crop assessment, land records digitization, etc thus boosting the agriculture sector. In early 2022, PM Modi had flagged off 100 Kisan drones in different towns and cities across the country to spray pesticides on the farms. The Kisan Drone Suvidha has the aim of boosting the agricultural sector of the country and transforming the lives of the farmers.
