Ayushman Bharat – Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana

Ayushman Bharat – Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana (AB-SSBY) is a flagship health insurance scheme launched by the Punjab Government on August 20, 2019. Under this scheme, around 65% of the state’s population are provided will cashless and paperless health insurance cover of Rs.5 lakh per family each year. This scheme is applicable in government hospitals and in private hospitals that were enrolled under this scheme.

The State government recently announced that the beneficiaries of this scheme would be provided with free COVID-19 treatment in the empanelled private hospitals. It is to bear the entire cost of treatment after deducting the cost payable by the insurance firms from the capped charges.
