Awards in District Skill Development Planning’ (DSDP) 2022

Recently, 2nd edition of “Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning 2022” was organized at Dr Ambedkar International Centre.

Key Facts

  • District Skill Development Planning Awards 2022 was given to Top 30 districts, for their innovative best practices in skill development.
  • Rajkot (Gujarat), Cachar (Assam) and Satara (Maharashtra), were ranked among the top three districts, respectively.
  • District Skill Development Planning Award event was attended by District Collectors, District Magistrates, etc from 30 states. During the event, they shared their ideas and experiences as well as presented skill development work done in their districts.

Categories of District Skill Development Planning Awards

District Skill Development Planning Awards 2022 were given under 3 categories:

  • Category 1: 8 Awards were given for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning
  • Category 2: 13 Certificates were given for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning
  • Category 3: 9 Letter of Appreciation were given for District Skill Development Planning

Objectives of District Skill Development Planning Awards

District Skill Development Planning awards were given with the aim of promoting better understanding of District Skill Development Planning and encouraging District Skill Committees (DSCs) by using capabilities for implementing targeted projects at district level across the country. It aims to maximize the impact of SANKALP’s primary initiative, which seeks to strengthen institutional mechanisms for skill development at district and skill level.

What is District Skill Development Planning Awards?

DSDP awards were constituted in June 2018, under the SANKALP scheme, that stands for “Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion”. The awards were created to promote decentralized planning, rewarding and acknowledging extraordinary and innovative work in skill development. First edition of the awards was held in 2018-19, in which 228 districts from 19 states took part.
