Atal Bhujal Yojana

The Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti & Social Justice and Empowerment, Rattan Lal Kataria in a written reply in Lok Sabha on Thursday, 12th December 2019 informed that Atal Bhujal Yojana, a Rs 6000 Crore Central Sector Scheme has received approval of the World Bank for a funding pattern of 50:50 between the Government of India and the international financial institution, the World Bank.
The central sector scheme is for the sustainable management of groundwater resources with community participation. The scheme will envisage active participation of the communities in various activities such as water budgeting, preparation and implementation of Gram Panchayats wise information and water security plans, monitoring and disseminating groundwater data, the formation of water User association, education and communication activities related to sustainable groundwater management.
The identified stressed areas for implementation of the scheme fall in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Karnataka.
