EDPB’s ChatGPT Task Force

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has formed a task force to address concerns related to OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot. This move comes after the Italian government banned the use of ChatGPT in the country and accused OpenAI of stealing users’ data and failing to have an age-verification system to bar minors from being exposed to illicit material. The German data protection commissioner has also expressed concerns about the chatbot, suggesting that it may face a similar ban in Germany. The task force set up by EDPB is dedicated to fostering cooperation and exchanging information on possible enforcement actions conducted by data protection authorities related to ChatGPT.
