Havaldar Hangpan Dada has been bestowed with the highest peacetime military decoration award “Ashok Chakra” posthumously by the President Pranab Mukherjee on the 68th Republic Day of India for his selfless service to the nation. He was killed at Naugam sector in Jammu and Kashmir in May 2016 while fighting terrorists. The award was received by his wife Chasen Lowang Dada.
