Navtej Sarna, an Indian Foreign Service officer of the 1980 batch, has been appointed as the new Indian Ambassador to the United States. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs before he was posted in London in January 2016. He will succeed Arun Singh, who is due for retirement. Apart from this, the Union Government has also appointed Taranjit Singh Sandhu as the next High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka. Sandhu will replace Yash Sinha.
