B.S. Bhullar, a 1986-batch IAS officer of UP cadre, has been appointed chief of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Presently, Bhullar is posted as Additional Secretary in Civil Aviation ministry. The post was lying vacant for the past over 4 months after M Sathiyavathy, the first woman chief of the aviation regulator, was named as new Union Labour Secretary in July 2016. The DGCA is responsible for implementing, controlling, and supervising airworthiness standards, safety operations, crew training in India.
