Gurpreet Singh Sandhu
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu has become the first Indian footballer to play in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Europa League. He achieved this feat when he plays for the Norwegian club Stabaek FC as the goalie against Connah’s Quay FC in a qualifying match in Rhyl, Wales. Previously, he made history by becoming the first Indian player to appear in a top-division European league game for Stabaek in Norwegian Tippiligaen, which is the Norway’s national league, in May 2016. The Europa League is a prestigious European club competition, only one rung below the Champions League.
