At present West Bengal and Tripura has direct bus connectivity with Bangladesh. The Kolkata–Dhaka Bus (1999) and the Dhaka–Agartala Bus (2001) are the primary road links between the two countries. Recently, Prime Minister Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Shiekh Hasina flagged off the Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala and Dhaka-Shillong-Guwahati bus services in Dhaka. The Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala service will reduce the travel time between the capitals of India’s West Bengal and Tripura states by one-third.
