The Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) has became the first licensed shipyard in India to build Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) ships for any client worldwide. The certification / license has been given by the French Company, Gaztransport et Technigaz (GTT). Now, the CSL is authorised to use the membrane type technologies of GTT for any liquid gas carriers, more particularly the LNG carriers. With this nod, India has joined the league of South Korea, Japan and China to build LNG transportation ships. The GTT France is the world leader in design engineering and technology provider of membrane type containment systems for transportation and storage of LNG.
