December 3 is observed as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The annual observance was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations. The theme for 2015 is-‘Inclusion matters: access and empowerment of people of all abilities’. The present Modi government has launched ‘Accessible India Campaign’ also known as Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan to provide universal accessibility to persons with disabilities.
