The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently declared a 3-month state of emergency in the aftermath of coup attempt. As per Article 121 of the Turkish constitution, the state of emergency allows the president and cabinet to bypass parliament when drafting new laws and to restrict or suspend rights and freedoms.
