India has been ranked 20th out of 58 nations on the 2017 Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI), as per latest publication issued by Germanwatch and Climate Action Network Europe. The top three positions are left vacant and France is at 4th position followed by Sweden, United Kingdom, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Malta and Portugal. The CCPI is an instrument designed to increase transparency in international climate politics and aims to put political and social pressure on those countries which have, up until now, failed to take ambitious action on climate protection.
