India has been ranked 39th out of 138 countries in the 2016-17 Global Competitiveness Index (GCI), which is released by the World Economic Forum (WEF). As per the GCI report, due to improved monetary, fiscal policies and lower oil prices, the Indian economy has stabilized and now boasts the highest growth among G20 countries. The report has also stated that India still needs to cover a lot of ground in the areas like labour, financial market, tax regulations, manufacturing, infrastructure and technological readiness. The list has been topped by Switzerland, followed by Singapore, United States, the Netherlands and Germany
