The recently released 2016 “State of the World’s Children” report is the annual flagship report of United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF). As per the report, global under-five mortality rates have been more than halved since 1990 globally. It also points out that based on current trends, 69 million children under the age of 5 will die from mostly preventable causes, 167 million children will live in poverty and 750 million women will have been married as children by 2030. The report calls for more attention from governments, donors, businesses and international organizations to accelerate their efforts in order to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
