Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister
The Government has decided to constitute a 16-member Executive Committee on Climate Change to assist the Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change. The committee will be headed by Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forests will be its Member-Convenor. An official release issued in New Delhi said the committee will assist the PM’s Council on Climate Change in evolving a coordinated response to issues relating to climate change at the National level. It will regularly monitor the implementation of the eight national missions and other initiatives on Climate Change. It will also advise on modifications in the objectives, strategies and structure of the missions, as may be necessary and co-ordinate with various agencies on issues relating to climate change. Other members of the Executive Committee are Secretaries of various ministries.
