Jagendra Singh
The ‘2016 RedInk Veer Patrakar Puraskar’, the RedInk Award for bravery , has been posthumously honoured to journalist Jagendra Singh by the Mumbai Press Club in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was received by his daughter Diksha Singh. Jagendra Singh, the Uttar Pradesh-based brave journalist, ran a Facebook page “ Shahjahanpur Samachar” through which he exposed local MLA and Uttar Pradesh minister Ram Murti Verma’s links with illegal sand mining. He was allegedly set on fire on June 1, 2015 by some local policemen and criminals for the expose and lost his life.
