The Centre is to set up the country’s first geothermal power project in Ladakh. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah said that the Government is working on the project and the 3 MW will be one of the major geothermal-based projects in the world. He said his Ministry will also look at how such projects can be extended to other States.
