India has been elected as the Vice Chair for 2018 and Chair for 2019 of Kimberley Process Certificate Scheme (KPCS). The announcement was made at the recently held KP Plenary Meeting 2016 at Dubai. India is founder member of Kimberley Scheme of United Nations for import/export of rough diamonds to ensure that conflict diamonds are not traded. The Chair oversees the implementation of the program, the operations of the working groups and committees, and general administration. The Chair rotates annually. The current chair of KPCS is the nation that held the position of vice chair the previous year.
