Mars
Scientists have discovered that a gigantic river once flowed through Mars. The river was unearthed by European Space Agency which used a high-speed stereo camera to click pictures of Mars’ surface area during the Mars Express episode. The river that is over 7 km wide has multiple tributaries and crater like structures suggesting depth. The river, scientists claim, was formed nearly 1.8 and 3.5 million years ago and contained fresh water with elements not very different from that of Earth rivers. Also, the Promethei Terra Highlands mountain range is to the right of the river, with proof of glacial activity in the past. The glaciers could then have gone on to become tributaries of the now dry river bed. The presence of such a huge river on Mars might spark of rumours of life on the now-dry planet and re-ignite scientists’ hope of sustaining life forms on Mars in the future.
