World Philosophy Day 2019

UNESCO (the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) introduced World Philosophy Day in 2002 and proclaimed that it would be celebrated every third Thursday of November every year. This year it?s been observed on 21st November.

About the term ?Philosophy?

Term Philosophy came from the Greek word ph?losoph?a, meaning ‘the love of wisdom’ is the study of the nature of reality and existence, of right and wrong behavior, and of what is possible to know. It is regarded amongst one of the most important fields of human thought as it aspires a person to get at the very meaning of life.

Aim of 2019 Observance

  • To highlight the importance of philosophy in various regional contexts.
  • To obtain regional contributions to universal debates on present-day challenges that support social changes.
  • To celebrate and strengthen the achievements of humanity.
