New features to be launched on e-NAM platform

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is to launch several new features on the e-NAM platform to strengthen agriculture marketing in times of the pandemic.

e-NAM

E-NAM or Electronic National Agriculture Market is a pan India electronic trading platform that was launched on 14th April 2016. It connects more than 580 mandis across the country and is expected to add 415 more mandis- to integrate nearly 1,000 mandis virtually. 3 modules have been launched to help strengthen the market and help the farmers while ensuring social distancing.

e-NWR Module

Electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipt (e-NWR) module was launched on the platform. It is a trading module that enables farmers to trade directly with warehouses that are registered under the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority and recognised as ‘deemed market’ by the state. It will save logistics costs for the producer and yet sell the produce at markets across the country. It will enable price stabilisation by demand-supply matching and also improve farmers’ income.

FPO Trading Module

The Farmer Producer Organisation Trading module will enable the FPOs to bid on the platform by uploading images of their produce and its quality parameters. Facilities for transportation- either from the premises or from mandis- have also been provided. It would reduce the transportation and logistics costs, improve bargaining powers, ease of doing business, etc.

Logistics Module

The Logistics Module provides for linking large logistics aggregator platforms to provide choices for the users. It gives links for navigating and selecting the appropriate services from the logistics providers’ websites. This is to promote inter-state trade and seamless transport of the produce.
