National Voters’ Day observed on 25th January

Every year, on 25th January, National Voter’s Day is being celebrated across the country in India. This year i.e 25th January 2020, marked the tenth year of celebration and the 70th year of functioning of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will be the Chief Guest of the 10th National Voter’s Day celebration which is being organized by the Election Commission of India on Saturday 25th January at Manekshaw Centre in the National Capital.

This day was first celebrated on 25th January 2011 to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India (ECI) which was established on the same day in 1950.

The theme for the National Voter’s Day, 2020: Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy.

The theme here aims in educating, facilitating and maximizing the enrolment, especially for the new or first time voters as well as renewal of the citizen’s faith in the electoral process of India to set the tone for year-long activities
