India-Uzbekistan sign Agreement on Security Cooperation

Uzbekistan’s delegation led by their Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Pulat Bobojonov met Indian delegation led by Union Minister for Home Affairs, Amit Shah in New Delhi during their bilateral visit to India from 20-23 November 2019.

A security Cooperation agreement was signed by the two Ministers in the diverse fields including counter-terrorism, human trafficking, and organized crime.

The Agreement will strengthen the potential for further cooperation between the two nations.

Earlier this month, 4-13 November 2019, ‘Dustlik-2019’ the first-ever India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise was conducted at Chichiq Training Area, near the capital city of Uzbekistan, Tashkent.

In 2018 October, during the visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to India, both the nations have set a target of $1 billion annual bilateral trade to be achieved by the end of 2020. India-Uzbekistan bilateral trade in 2017-18 stood at US$235 million.
