Haryana drafts Ordinance: 75% private sector jobs to locals

On July 6, 2020, the Haryana Government cleared a proposal to draft an ordinance that reserves 75% of private sector jobs to locals.

Highlights

The proposal to draft “Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates ordinance, 2020” was approved by the cabinet that met under the chairmanship of CM Manohar Lal Khattar. This criterion is to be applied for jobs that pays salary less than Rs 50,000 per month.

About the ordinance

The ordinance will include companies that have more than 10 employees in its premises. The rules under the ordinance will apply after the date of notification of the ordinance.

Portal

The employees currently earning less than Rs 50,000 have to register on the portal of labour department. The responsibility of registration lies on the job provider. The companies failing to register will face penalty of Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
