GSAT-30 to be launched on Friday, 17th January 2020
The space agency of the Government of India- Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch a communication satellite GSAT-30 from the overseas department of France on the northeast coast of the South America continent, French Guiana on Friday, 17th January 2020. The GSAT 30 satellite that derives its heritage from the earlier INSAT/GSAT satellite series on ISRO, will onboard Ariane-5 launch vehicle (VA 251). From the C and Ku bands of Geostationary orbit, GSAT-30 will provide enhanced coverage of communication services and will serve as a replacement to the satellite series INSAT-4A which was launched by ISRO back in 2005. Weighing 3357 Kg, GSAT 30 will provide coverage in the Ku-band of the Indian mainland and islands and will also be providing extended coverage in C-band for a large number of Asian countries (including Gulf Countries) and Australia. The Mission life of the GSAT 30 is expected to be 15 years and is configured on the enhanced I-3K bus structure developed by ISRO.
