Citizenship Bill critised in North East States

The states in the north-east saw protest over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the winter session of parliament which began on 18 Nov.  Members of the Northeast Students’ Organisation (NESO) took out rallies in north-east states after the bill was listed for introduction in parliament for the winter session. The Arunachal Pradesh government said that considering the sensitivity of the issue, it was decided to have a final discussion with the stateholders and the recommendations arrived through the discussions to the Home Ministry. On 18 Nov, In Assam, members of the All Assam Student’s Union (AASA) marched and submitted a memorandum to Governor Jagdish Mukhi.
