5th Army International Scout Masters Competition

In the 5th Army International Scout Masters Competition which has been held at the Jaisalmer Military Station from August 6-14, 2019, the Indian Army has won the first prize while the Runner Up’s trophy was won by Uzbekistan and Russia was awarded the Second Runner Up’s trophy.

What is the International Scout Masters Competition?

  • The Army Scouts Masters Competition is an International Army Games which was directed by Russia.
  • The competition is designed to forge strong ties within the armed forces of friendly countries and enhance esprit-de-corps (team spirit).
  • While this is the 5th edition of International Army games, it is the first time India has got the opportunity to host it.
  • The entire competition comprises of 5 separate events which check the navigational skills, marksmanship, endurance and team spirit of the participating countries.
  • The militaries are judged by a large panel of international judges, arbitrators, and referees.
  • Besides India, the other 8 countries participating in the event are – Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Zimbabwe, and China.
  • The Closing Ceremony of the event was attended by the Defense Minister of India.
  • The Indian Army unit which won the first prize came from the Southern Command of India.
